AREA C Congestion Charge.

  • What is Area C? 
    It is a restricted area of the historical center of Milan where it is possible to drive a vehicle upon payment.
  • Whith are the borders of the Congestion Charge Zone?

  • Cameras located at the Area C entries take pictures of vehicles entering in Area C and are active:
    From Monday to Friday 7.30 a.m.-07.30 p.m.
    On Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays: AreaC is not active.


FARES 

  • Motorcycles and mopeds:
    Free admission (except for two-stroke and diesel engine motor veichles and mopeds Euro 0 and 1 whose access is forbidden).

  • Tourist buses with 9+ seats, vehicles with driver service:
    - school trips € 7,50
    - 9+ seat buses, up to 8 metres € 60,00
    - 9+ seat buses, from 8,01 up to 10,5 metres € 97,50
    - 9+ seat buses, more than 10,5 metres € 150,00

AREA C INFO

New Environmental Restrictions

Starting from October 1st, 2024, the following vehicles can no longer access and circulate in the RTZ Area C:

PASSENGER TRANSPORT (CATEGORY M1)

Euro 3 gasoline vehicles

BUSES FOR PUBLIC LINE TRANSPORT

• Euro II gasoline
• Euro III, IV diesel with factory-fitted DPF and with field V.5 registration document <= 0.01 g/kWh
• Euro 0, I, II, III, IV diesel with after-market DPF installed before December 31st, 2018 and with particulate matter class at least Euro IV
• Euro V diesel without DPF
• Euro V diesel without DPF or with factory-fitted DPF and with field V.5 registration document > 0.01 g/kWh or without value in field V.5 registration document (In the absence of a value in field V.5, it is possible to demonstrate compliance with Area C regulations through the type-approval certificate issued by the vehicle manufacturer)
• Euro V diesel with after-market DPF and with particulate matter class lower than Euro VI
Exemption for those purchasing a new vehicle For those who purchased a new vehicle (belonging to categories M2, M3, N1, N2, N3) by December 31st, 2023 to replace one banned from October 1st, 2023, an exemption for access to Area C is provided until June 30th, 2024

For Area C residents, from January 1st, 2024, 50 free annual transits are available

Paid access to Area C and exemptions for hybrid vehicles (cat. M2, M3 and N1, N2, N3) From October 1st, 2023, hybrid vehicles M2, M3 and N1, N2, N3 must pay an access ticket to enter Area C. Also from October 1st, hybrid goods transport vehicles must request an exemption to enter Area C during the 08:00/10:00 time slot.
